As soon as you’re logged in you’ll notice along the top of the screen the WordPress Toolbar. This appears across the top of all the admin screens and remains in place for as long as you’re logged in to the website.

Normal visitors to your website won’t see this.

Notice your site’s name over the left hand side? Clicking on this toggles between the homepage and the Dashboard of the website.

The Toolbar also contains various shortcuts to other admin screens.

Over the far right of the tool bar you’ll see the name of the user you’re currently logged in as. Hovering over this shows options to view and edit your profile information, and the other to log out of the website.

Just underneath the Toolbar, near the profile link over the far right you’ll see two inverted tabs; Screen Options and Help. Clicking on either of these causes a new panel to appear. The content is contextual, so the help and screen options offered will change depending on the screen you’re currently using. You’ll see one or both these tabs on many of the admin screens.

On the main Dashboard screen try going to the Screen Options and removing some of the information boxes that appear.
