It had been around 8 years since I rebuilt Lauren’s WordPress website. Since then the website has done a very good job but was starting to show its age in places and some incompatibilities were starting to become evident.
As all the content was already in WordPress upgrading the Theme was a relatively easy task. The latest versions of WordPress come with support for ‘full site editing’ meaning that if a compatible Theme is used then nearly all aspects of the design are easily edited in a very nice visual way.
So using a simple child theme of WordPress’s own Twenty Twenty Three Theme I updated the site sticking as close to the original as possible. I also simplified a few things and streamlined some aspects. Hopefully by building on top of a default WordPress Theme we can expect an even longer lifespan.
