Cathy contacted me after her hosting company informed her that they were going to start charging extra for keeping her website on an older version of PHP. PHP is the language that the website is built in, and like anything technology based is constantly being updated and improved.

I tested the existing website with the latest version of PHP – but there was a lot of code that would have needed updating. Given that WordPress itself has also been through so many advances since the site was built it was decided that a new Theme would be the best option.

This means Cathy now has access to all the advances within WordPress and the site will be good for another 5 years or so. This time around though I’ve built the site as a child theme of WordPress’s own theme Twenty Twenty Three. This should give an even longer lifespan to the website.
