The Chichester based business OriginalStitch specialises in creating unique handmade toys and homeware from vintage and upcycled fabrics. Katie contacted us experiencing problems with her old website and asked us to design a fresh new website which would be simpler for her to look after the admin side things herself.
With pretty much all items being made to order we decided that we’d take a slightly different route with Katie’s website. So rather than use a full e-commerce store we decided we’d use WordPress together with the excellent Jigoshop plugin. WordPress has a far shorter learning curve that most e-commerce systems – so Katie can spend her time doing what she does best and not get stuck behind a computer for hours on end. During the development of the new website we sent Katie some login details (which we do for all clients) and a few simple lessons/exercises to get her started. Katie was adding photo’s, product descriptions and articles in next to no time.
The colours for the new website are taken from the existing logo – but lightened for a more washed out feel and so they don’t detract from the colourful products offered. The navigation is kept as bold and simple as possible and the whole website is built on a responsive framework so will be usuable whatever the device used to access it.
