Charlie from Countrywide Park Homes originally contacted me looking for help improving conversion rates on his website. The website was getting a good level of visitors, mainly through pay-per-click campaigns – but was failing to impress, so few people were making contact or requesting brochures.
Inspecting the WordPress website revealed a confusing navigation structure, an overuse of popup forms and a large number of callouts on some pages. Technically the site was using a very large number of plugins and adding new content was tricky due to the highly complex nature of how the pages were constructed; multiple shortcodes from the various plugins, page builders etc.
I suggested to Charlie that perhaps it would be wise to re-design the website. My main reason for suggesting this was to simplify the backend of the website, and put ‘managing’ the content back into the hands of the websites owners.
The new site drops nearly all of the previously used plugins, and uses just a couple of custom post types; parks and properties. So now adding a new ‘park’ or ‘property’ is a lot simpler for the site owner. The site is designed along the lines of the previous one, but is a lot simpler to navigate with more relevant information displayed.
So far Charlie has reported a healthy increase in leads generated by the website.
